Healthcare Reimbursement focuses on the fundamentals of medical office protocol with specialized training in the areas you will need for a job in this growing field.

As a Virginia College in Charleston student, you'll be prepared for entry-level positions in the medical field related to reimbursement procedures. You'll learn the fundamentals of medical office protocol and get specialized training in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and Health Care Financing Administration Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS).

In addition to your classroom experiences, you will also serve an externship for on-the-job training. You'll be supervised by a physician, nurse, or health services professional and learn the billing and coding process from the working perspective.

This rate includes the number of graduating students who were employed in the field they were trained in by this program, as a percentage of all the students who graduated from the program, excluding graduates defined as unavailable for placement due to circumstances, such as death, military, or continuing education.   • A job placement rate of NA% (Chattanooga) was also provided to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).  This rate was calculated including students who graduated from the program of study between 7/1/2010-6/30/2011.  The placement rate was calculated by using the total number of employed graduates divided by the total number of graduates defined as “placeable” by THEC.   The total number of “placeable” graduates does not include graduates who qualified for a placement exemption due to special circumstances, such as health issues, death, continuing education or military service.
