Staff members from Virginia College at Austin raised over $7,000 in the 2009 Austin Asthma Walk, which recently took place. This was the most money the Virginia College team has ever raised, said Campus President, Harvey Giblin."The Virginia College team is very proud to contribute to the fight against asthma and lung disease," says Giblin. "We were among the top fundraisers this year and plan on continuing our efforts in the future for this worthy cause. Our staff, faculty, and students love to give back to the community."
The 5K walk took place at the Shops at Arbor Trails in South Austin. The American Lung Association hosts walks to raise money for the fight against asthma and lung disease in all its forms through education, research and advocacy. According to the American Lung Association, more than 35 million Americans struggle to breathe because of lung disease.
