Culinard Chefs and Students Prepare Food for Charity Event

Posted: Monday, August 31, 2009

Teaching chefs and students from Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, recently demonstrated their skills and creativity during the 2009 Taste of the Nation event, held at the McWane Center in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. Culinard Chefs Jerome Queryaiux and Ian Tarica, along with students Eric Helfinstine, Eric Olsen, Matt Salter, Joseph Gidley, Christopher Branch, Joshua Elder, Matt Light, and Tiffany Jones presented a variety of cold foods for the tasting.

The event benefited local charities. The students prepared sufficient food for some 500 quests, with the proceeds directly aiding the local charity City Harvest.

Dean of Culinard Chef Antony Osborne says, "This provided a wonderful real world experience for the students with the team receiving many positive comments on the flavors and the presentation of their food."
