Culinard Staffers Take Part in Holiday Event

Posted: Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Jared Danks, Chef Instructor at Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, along with Culinard Externship Coordinator Kay Collier created a sculpture good enough to eat for a seasonal competition. All entrants used gingerbread sculpture for the event at the Ross Bridge Hotel and Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. “Polar Express” was the theme of the competition.

Culinard Dean Antony Osborne says, “You can see from the photos that they showed the key elements from the movie and book. We congratulate Jared and Kay for all their hard work in creating such a wonderful and detailed design.”

The gingerbread houses will be on view at Ross Bridge throughout the holiday season. Voting for the best gingerbread will be done by the people who are staying at Ross Bridge. Visitors and hotel guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites and that will determine the winning sculptures.
