Virginia College News

Faculty, staff, students and their family recently enjoyed a very successful "Family Fun Day" (retention day) at Virginia College's new campus location in Birmingham. Cotton candy, snow cones, prizes, face painting, twister, the limbo and inflatables added to the fun for attendees of all ages. Hot dogs, chili dogs, beverages and chips were also among the favorites of the day. Students volunteered to host the games and gave out the prizes.

Virginia College Dean of Academics Shea Terracin says, "While everyone had a great time, we took care of some school business as well. Our students who attended were allowed to get their schedules and their books for the fall quarter classes early. Students also had a personal meeting with their Program Directors and Deans. We thought this was a fun way to encourage them to get a head start on their classes."

The attendees were given a postcard at the Family Fun Day to place into a box for a drawing of three computers on the first day of fall quarter.
