Culinard, VC Students "Serve Up" Green Eggs and Ham
Posted: Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Students from Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, along with Birmingham Virginia College Healthcare and Therapeutic Massage students, recently joined together to help support the Green Resources Center of Alabama, an organization that works to help protect the environment and save energy. The theme of the day was "Green Eggs and Ham," inspired by the famous children's book by Dr. Suess. It took place in the plaza of an office building in downtown Birmingham.
For the event, Culinard created their own modern interpretation of green eggs and ham. It was a spinach tortilla wrap filled with freshly made scrambled eggs, mixed with cheese sauce, ham and grated cheese. The price of admission was $10.00. For that price, customers received a wrap, a cup of coffee in a "green" container, and a cinnamon roll. They could also take advantage of free medical screenings by students enrolled in Virginia College's healthcare programs and chair massages performed by the Therapeutic Massage students. This event provided "real world experience" for the students that worked the event and received extensive coverage from the local newspaper and two local TV stations, WBRC Fox 6 and ABC 33/40.
