ECA Academic Teams Hold Iron Chef Competition

Posted: Monday, August 24, 2009

Academic teams from the various Education Corporation of America schools recently faced off in an Iron Chef Competition.  The cook-off was a part of a corporate meeting for academic personnel, held August 12.

The Deans from the schools were divided into teams and had to prepare a meal consisting of bruschetta, Caesar salad, chicken and vegetables, and chocolate mousse.  Each team's food was judged on presentation and taste.  The judges for the event were Chef Antony Osborne, Dean of Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College; Dick Dormuth, ECA Senior Vice-President, Academic Affairs; and ECA Senior Vice-Presidents of Academic Development Shirley Wilkinson and Judy Lima.  The winning team was led by Dean Shea Terracin from the Birmingham campus of Virginia College, ably assisted by Kit Fox, Rick Seibert, Don Osborne, and Mary Carpenter.  While some of the Deans were new to the kitchen environment, a good time--and good meals--were enjoyed by all.
