Education Corporation of America Names Two New Virginia College Campus Presidents
Posted: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Birmingham, Alabama-based Education Corporation of America (ECA) has announced the appointment of two education veterans to head Virginia College campus locations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Greenville, South Carolina.
Dr. Paul Carrio has been promoted to President of Virginia College School of Business and Health in Chattanooga. He previously served as Academic Dean at the campus. ECA CEO Tom Moore says, "Although Dr. Carrio has only been with us for a short time, he quickly developed a reputation for leadership among the faculty and staff. His background in both education and business will make him a strong leader for this great campus in a wonderful city."
Prior to coming to Virginia College, Carrio spent eight years in academic leadership roles at other institutions, including serving as Director of Education at Kaplan University in Atlanta and as Dean at the University of Phoenix. He earned the Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Capella University. He earned the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and a bachelors degree in Psychology, both from Dominican University of California.
Dr. Carrio and his family are in the process of relocating to Chattanooga from Atlanta.
Dominick DeLorenzo has been named President of the Virginia College campus in Greenville, South Carolina. DeLorenzo has been in the educational field for seven years, most recently at Daymar College in Louisville, Kentucky, where he served as Campus Director. Prior to that, he was the College Director at ITT Technical Institute in Evansville, Indiana, and the State Director of Academic Affairs for the University of Phoenix. Before entering the education field, he spent four years in marketing-related positions for Proforma and Nortel Networks, and thirteen years in the insurance industry with USF&G in Baltimore, Maryland, and Allstate in Nashville, Tennessee.
He holds an MBA from Cumberland University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Tennessee State University.
Dominick and his family will be relocating to Greenville from Louisville, Kentucky.
