The Mattie Gamlin Federated Women's Clubs have nominated Eric Berrios, the campus president of Virginia College in Mobile, Alabama, for the Genevieve Broughton Education Award. The award is given to individuals who have prepared others intellectually for a more rewarding life while promoting good character and high morals.
Each year, the Clubs present the Genevieve Broughton Education Award to an individual in the community who has made a significant contribution to improve and promote education. If chosen as the recipient of this year's award, Berrios will be presented with the honor at the annual awards luncheon.
Berrios brings over 12 years of teaching, administration and admissions experience at both a secondary and post-secondary level. He has led the Mobile campus of Virginia College to unprecedented growth and increased graduation rates. Under his tenure, the school has added new academic programs, including Nursing.
