Virginia College Partners With Big Sisters To Offer Big Salon Day For At-Risk Kids

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, located in Greenville, South Carolina, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Virginia College which will allow at risk youth to enjoy a Big Salon Day once a month.Virginia College's Manager of Student Cosmetology Carol Gurley and the talented students at Virginia College have graciously donated their time and resources to pamper Little Sisters and their Big Sisters with manicures, pedicures, and hair services including shampoo and style.
Virginia College and BBBS will celebrate this new partnership with a kick-off party for the Big Salon Day at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at Virginia College, located at 78 Global Drive, Suite 200, Greenville, South Carolina.
"This is a great community outreach opportunity. It is a good experience for all the girls," says Gurley. "I have instructed them to do some teaching as well as spoiling and pampering, so everyone involved will learn something along the way."
"Thank you Virginia College for donating these wonderful services," says BBBS Greenville Site Director Lamont Sullivan. "This experience will help our Little Sisters have more confidence in themselves. And we hope that confidence will apply to other areas of their lives as well." All services will be performed by licensed cosmetology instructors.
